Money they say
is the root of all evil. But evil has no other root but the mind of a man. The
same mind that has created money and so many other extraordinary things. Ayn
Rand in her master work Atlas shrugged described money as a sacred thing. And
it is. Created by people who work hard with honesty and sincerity. As long as
it stays with them, money is as sacred as a god’s name. But the moment it gets
into the hands of people who have not earned it, it becomes evil. Because they
don’t know what to do with it. They have no purpose associated with that piece
of paper. They have not put in their hearts and souls to make themselves worthy
of that money. It is they who then create evil.
Money is not the
root of evil. It is the one thing that keeps us as civilized as we like to
think we are. Otherwise we would be using guns and swords to get what we want.
Money is the one thing that has kept us sane and tolerant because we know
things will be available to us whenever we want just because our possession of
money. The pyramid structure of the society is a disaster when the top floor is
filled with people who have no value for the most important instrument of our
civilization. They throw away money like they were born with it. While the
truth is that when it is created in the bottom most layers of the pyramid it is
divine in nature and it defines the life of a man. It is everything for a man
who has earned it with his blood as its soul. Why is it that the rich get
richer and the poor get poorer? Is the rich more hard working than the poor? Or
are the poor so unfortunate that all their money automatically flies to the
rich? We have our very capable minds to answer this question.
Ayn Rand got it
right as a fact when she said, “From the smallest necessity to the highest
religious abstraction, from the wheel to the skyscraper, everything we are and
everything we have comes from one attribute of man - the function of his
reasoning mind.” The day the majority of us stop to reason with things, our
world would rid of sanity and the civilized ethics we are proud of. Money, then
will be the root of all evil because there would be no one to earn it with
values it deserves and possesses inherently even before its creation. The
world, our world will then move to a point of stagnation that will result in
destruction, not at a time but atom by atom. And that would be very painful.”
