Seeking God

Searching for God humans has lost out on their humanity. Religion is one of the strongest creators of violence, I am not saying it, history is saying it out loud again and again and yet we have ignored how much it has hindered our progress.  There can never be a bigger and a more sensible religion than the religion of humanity. There is not a single religion that does not ask people to love equally, but we have divided our love and fragmented it into a billion pieces. The love that humans must have for each other, the respect that human beings must give to each other is no longer seen.
We are all busy securing a life that is not our own anymore and in that process we have lost out on humanity which is the only true god. The god that we should see in ourselves and in each and every living creature is somehow obscured to a point by our own ignorance and our greed that we kill hundreds every day. Humans apart, we have set standards of cruelty towards other living beings, species are dying out and the forests are dwindling.
We are replacing some forests with jungles of concrete where the worst animal and the best animal are of the same species. The desecration of the natural way of living throughout the world and more so in the developing and the under developed world is heart breaking in so many ways but we are not bothered. We have our greed and we mask it with responsibility forgetting that we are losing out on the greatest happiness that there is, the happiness that you get when you give love to all. They say that time passes and empires fall, changes will keep coming, but now I wonder, when will the human change and become the God that each one of us is supposed to be. Limitations on the mind, limitations on the body and worst of all, limitations on thought have made us a shadow of a shadow of what we really are.

  1. Religion is nothing more than a way of life... As we grow up we are all conditioned to accept and follow the religion we inherit from our parents. Somewhere down the path we fail to understand and appreciate the good things other religions present to us.

"Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams - they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do - they all contain truths." - Muhammad Ali

I agree - we are obsessed with "our way of life" and often invent the need to prove it better than everyone else's way of life.

Tagore wrote- "Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls ... Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake"! Guess nobody heard his prayers - as a country we are plagued by zero tolerance and appalling depths of apathy!

This is my favorite quote on religion -

"There is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophies. My brain and my heart are my temples; my philosophy is kindness." - Dalai Lama
