Education is no longer about life, education is all about a job and it’s about money. Whoever has the money has access to quality education. A lot of arguments may come up saying that it has changed drastically over the last hundred years or so, but the change is only about quantity and not about quality. Some arguments may also say that the advancements in technology have made things easier for students as well as teachers but it is only true for people who can afford it.
New ideas are becoming redundant and the poor sections of
any society anywhere in the world are being neglected as always. In today’s
world where education has become a bare necessity, the expenses that are
required for a quality education are substantial. So, if I’m from a poor family
then I have two choices; don’t even look for a quality education and excel so
that somebody may end up giving me a sponsor. The competition that students in
some parts of the world have to face is surreal and it’s also very harsh on the
students. The job and career oriented approach is good in its own place, but a
complete education should include much more.
Education should be about finding out what people really
want to learn about, but we are force fed the same old textbooks and our minds
are also trained to live with the same approach for the rest of our lives. How surprising
is it that a common educated person does not even know enough of their own
nation, well this is a common thing that happens. Our understanding of
education needs a desperate revamp. Free education should be something that
governments all around the world can afford to provide but the state of cheaper
or free education is deplorable anywhere in the world.
Educated people should also join in and contributing towards
educating people. You will find that the most interested people in education
are the ones who don’t have it. Start out on your own in as small ways as
possible, volunteer with people who work for literacy, teach people at home in
your free time. Small things always leave behind big impressions and it’s
essential that the small things come from these educated people because they
have the experience and the exposure to a lot more things.
Education is something that everyone should have free access
to but we seem to be drifting farther and farther away from this simple goal. The
world today tells us that if you want a fighting chance to a good life, you
have to do things their way, most people never even have the luxury of choice
so that they can choose to learn what they are good at, and instead they have
to really learn what sells. Yes, the human being adapts well, but adaptation
should not lead to compromise, there is a big difference between the two. Sadly
enough we seem to be unable to distinguish that difference as we compromise
with our interests only to end up lost throughout our lives, putting in our
interests on the back seat. The best education will always be an education in
what a person is good at and not what the world thinks they should be good at.
